Opening Credits: VERY Important To Add

After watching several horror movies, which I do A LOT, I decided to start understanding how I am going to do my opening credits. The opening credits of my film are going to be important since it has everything that a producer uses. There are a few ways that I could open my film. One way that I saw was the opening credits to Halloween.

This opening has the credits as a separate scene from the start of the movie. The only problem with this is that it would take a lot of time from my actual film opening. In this film opening, it is two straight minutes of credits. This is literally going to be the whole film opening if I do that, so I kept looking. Unfortunately, a pattern I see in horror movies is that they take the first five minutes of their introduction doing credits before starting the movie or not adding any credits at all. Here is a movie credit from the movie Us, which also includes the credit scene before the actual movie.

So, I continued to search until I found what I wanted. I finally stumbled across what I was looking for.

Although it is not a horror film, this is the idea. To start the movie with these credits when the movie is happening rather than before it starts. Here is the list of credits that I am going to add:

- Writer
- Director
- Producer
- Cinematographer
- Editor
- Actors
- Music

Set Designing In Progress

The actual set design is going to be a little unpredictable, but I have a clear idea of what the bathroom is going to look like. I have added a photo of my bathroom before in one of my posts, where you can see the sink and mirror where it is going to happen. I am going to re add it so you can see the beautiful scenery of a toilet.

So in this picture, we can see the fact that there is a shower in the back. That will be covered and not shown in the film because it is tacky, and I do not want to add so much attention to that, but rather the mirror. The mirror will be clean, and the sink will be cleaned as well. I am going to do my best to get an angle of the bathroom that will only be the sink and the mirror. This is perfect because that is what I want, and I want to also be able to do close up shots that will completely add the eerie feel to my film.

Of course, there will be several party lights and a lot of music in the background in addition to more people.

Casting

First time being a director means first time casting! Although various people in the background will be random people who go to different schools that are not going to genuinely mean much. However, there are certain people who are going to be casted as characters important to the film opening. Here is what I was thinking of for my casting options:

Gemma: Played by Me

I decided that I wanted to play Gemma in my film because I know exactly how I want her played. Although known in her school, she gives a warm vibe as well as a clean look that makes people around her feel as if she is a perfectionist. I think I can play a role in my movie and still produce it, because I will have enough time to get to it and let others as well film the exact shots I want. She also embodies a lot of what I’ve always wanted to be.

Janelle: Played by Maia

Maia really impersonates a dumb blonde, although much love to my wonderful friend who will be helping me with my project. I feel like she really represents the character and also is perfect for representation on LGBTQ+ casting due to the fact that she is bisexual. She has a perfect scream and makeup to do this part, as well as the drunk part. She will fit in perfectly for this role.

Logan: Played by Eric

Eric is my best friend, and I practically forced him to be in my film opening. He really doesn’t have many lines and he will always accompany me to my party adventures anyways. I think that this is going to be perfect for him to play as well, since he and I are really close.

Erika: Played by Yael

This is Yael, and she is actually in my AICE Media class so this is super helpful. I am going to be in her video and she will be in mine. I love Yael, she is super smart and intellectual, and very fun and outgoing with everyone around her. I am excited to add her to my video because she is the life of the party, and definitely the type to throw one like the one we are filming at. I think she embodies Erika the character as I want her to.

There are definitely more characters that will be filled up, butt hese are the important ones that make the story come together. Without them, there is no actual story that is created. I am excited to see how this story comes together, and having fun with it.
